World, meet Finn.

Well it’s been a minute. This is just a post to say my baby boy, Finnegan Lyle Yamazaki, was born a week-and-a-half ahead of schedule on January 18th. He was 6 pounds 15 ounces when he was born and has nearly doubled in size at 2 months. In other words, he’s a tank (who requires sustenance every 2 hours, thank you kindly). He’s also a sweet, easy-going little dude. He’s much fairer than his sister was with light hair and blue eyes (so far). He has started smiling back over the past couple weeks and loves when his sister gives him kisses (something she does a lot and often uses to justify her less-than-gentle approach).

I’ve really missed writing. Truly. I had to take a time out from writing after I developed carpal tunnel at the end of my pregnancy. It’s only now just feeling close to normal again, although the tips of my fingers are still buzzing. It’s not pleasant, but an enormous improvement. For a time there I had to wear braces at night because my hands would swell and go completely numb and it started to happen during the day as well. Point is, I’ll be back here more regularly from now on. Yay! So where do I even begin?

First things first. As I said, I have a beautiful, healthy fresh baby and my gorgeous, loving daughter–understandably– has had some big emotions about it all. How much is about being on the cusp of three and how much is the adjustment to the new babe? I’ll have to get back to you on that. I’ve already been struggling to give enough of myself to each of my babies, while still keeping our household functioning (for the most part). But hey, I’m only 9 weeks post-partum so I guess there’s time to figure it all out, right?

Right. Well, to be honest, I’m still working on actually accepting the lowered bar. I’m no super mom, but have this crazy idea I’m supposed to be. I’m basically wracked with guilt most of the time.

We have some more big changes ahead. Our house is going to be rebuilt so we are moving in with my folks in the next couple months. It’s been a long journey here. I should probably give you a little background one of these days. I can hardly believe it’s actually happening, frankly. Organizing and packing with a toddler and newborn should be interesting!

So yes. We have quite a few big events afoot.

Glad to be back and looking forward to the therapeutic exercise of oversharing here.
